Be Studio was commissioned to renovate a compact pied-à-terre in Shoreditch for a young family of four. The project brief focused on transforming the existing flat into a sophisticated and functional London retreat. While a roof extension was initially considered, the design pivoted to optimizing internal layouts, maximizing light, and incorporating bespoke architectural details that reflect the family’s lifestyle and character.

The redesigned flat balances efficiency and charm, starting with a sculptural arched kitchen niche that frames the cooking area with elegance and architectural personality. The bathroom was entirely reimagined as a serene retreat, featuring a sculptural bathtub placed by the window for a relaxing soak with a view. Exposed cable trays have been concealed behind seamless ceiling work, contributing to a clean and polished atmosphere throughout. Fixtures and finishes were selected with input from the homeowners, ensuring that the space feels personal and tailored. Be Studio is overseeing the entire process—from design to technical drawings, contractor selection, and construction administration—ensuring consistency and quality at every stage. Completion is set for June 2025, and the result will be a pied-à-terre that feels both intimate and elevated: a thoughtful expression of modern family living in the heart of Shoreditch.
